Tri-Village Little League Division Composition
PLEASE NOTE: Your child's manager will contact you by April 1, 2007. At all division levels, teams average two games per week: usually one on a weeknight and one on Saturday. Practices begin April 1 and average two per week until the games start in mid-April, and then practices are once per week. Season ends the last week of school.
Youth Division (League Ages 7 and 6)
- Approximately 60% of players in the Youth Division are League Age 6; 40% are League Age 7. For all 7-year olds, approximately 70% play Youth, the remaining 30% play Junior. All 6-year olds must play in the Youth Division.
- Coaches pitch to their batters, with a batting tee used if necessary after several missed pitches.
- No score is kept, but there is a five-run limit for each team's at-bat; all players play in the field during every inning.
- NO TRYOUTS. Teams are formulated by the Youth Division Player Agent.
Junior Division (League Ages 8 and 7)
- Approximately 75% of players are League Age 8; 25% are League Age 7.
- Players pitch from 38 feet, but upon four balls being thrown by the player, the manager or coach will throw up to four additional pitches.
- No score is kept, but there is a five-run limit for each team's at-bat.
- NO TRYOUTS. Teams are formulated by the Junior Division Player Agent.
Farm Division (League Ages 9 and 8)
- Approximately 75% of players are League Age 9; 25% are League Age 8. Uses similar rules to the Junior Division, but pitching is done from 46 feet.
- NO TRYOUTS. Teams are formulated by the Farm Player Agent and Farm Managers through a consensus draft.
Intermediate Division (Primarily League Ages 10 and 11, with a limited number of 12s and 9s)
- Up to sixteen teams of 12 players for a maximum of 192 players. Tryouts required for team selection. All 10-, 11- and 12- year olds who tryout must be selected. Nine-year olds are eligible on a space-available basis only.
- 12 year olds are ineligible to pitch in the Intermediate Division based on official Little League Rules.
- Team selection via draft.
- Scores and standings are maintained. No player shall be on the bench for more than 2 innings in a game.
Major Division (Primarily League Ages 12 and 11, with a small number of 10s)
- Ten teams of 12 players for a maximum of 120 players. Team selection via draft.
- All registered players who played in the Major Division in the preceding year are guaranteed a spot and do not need to tryout. All other players registered for the Major Division must tryout. Those players trying out for Majors that are not selected to a Major Division team are then placed in the Intermediate Division draft.
- Each Major Division team must have at least 6 and no more than 8 twelve year olds.
- Scores and standings are maintained. Each player must play 2/3rd of the regulation innings played in the field for each game.
